Work schedule: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm, Monday-Friday.

The Pre-Billing Assistant plays a critical role in ensuring payment for services rendered. Audits the billing process prior to sending it to 3rd party billing department to make certain that proper documentation of ambulance transports. Also, invoices for event standby services in order to capture charges for all EMS services provided.

YOU WILL:

  • Research and resolve discrepancies on multiple sources of pre-billing documentation for billable transports.

  • Ensure accurate and complete trip reports prior to sending them to 3rd party billing source. Follow up directly with crews in the event a trip report needs to be modified appropriately or completed.

  • Review the Physician’s Certification Statement for every trip that requires this documentation.

  • Examine Patient Care Reports for every trip that requires this documentation.

  • Work collaboratively with 3rd party billing, other departments, and other agencies in the resolution of billing issues and/or denials requiring clinical expertise.

  • Provide weekly error reports for the supervisor’s review, regarding consistent documentation from crew reports.

  • Perform daily billing for standby services.

  • Perform end-of-month billing for events accordingly.

  • Send invoices to appropriate parties and posting for payment.

  • Apply knowledge of billing documentation and standards within full compliance of state and federal billing regulations.

  • Participating in external audit requests.

  • Aggregate data and report end of month data and billing data trends.

  • Actively seek opportunities to improve billing processes including increased productivity and accuracy.

Minimum requirements:

  • 1-year of billing experience preferred in an ambulance setting a plus

  • Auditing experience of 1 year preferred

  • Proficient in medical terminology in an ambulance setting preferred

  • Proficient in MS Office – particularly Excel; strong aptitude for relevant billing software and other programs/applications.

  • High school diploma or GED. Minimum 18 years of age.

Preferred: Education or formal training familiarity with ESO billing software

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $19.00 - $25.00 per hour based on experience.
